Mr. Albert Thomas Slaughter

A memorial service for Albert Thomas Slaughter, age 70, of Brownwood, Texas will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Haven of Hope Church in Brownwood with Brian Hall officiating. Mr. Slaughter passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his home in Brownwood. Cremation is under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. Albert Thomas Slaughter was born at home on March 10, 1944 in Baltimore Maryland to Joseph and Helen (Gretchizin) Slaughter. He was raised and attended school in Baltimore and later moved to Denton and then on to Comanche. He eventually moved to Brownwood and had worked at Brownwood Manufacturing for 37 years as a dedicated employee, never missing a days’ work before having to retire due to health reasons. While working at Brownwood Manufacturing, he met and married the love of his life, Sheila Frizzell on July 26, 1996. He loved Sheila with his whole heart and for the next 18 ½ years, he continue to make it his mission to show her just how much he loved her by the things that he would do for her, including cooking complete meals, which he was exceptionally good at! Sheila felt blessed to be so loved by Albert. Even near the end, when in pain, he would look at her and tell her how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. Albert was a quiet man with a tender heart and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was also the first to lend a helping hand or help someone in need. Yet even in pain, he would try to cover it up, so that no one would have to do for him. He loved to fish in his younger days, yet hated the outdoors because of the insects. If it flew, crawled or stung… he was allergic to it!! He loved talking with his son Anthony on the phone for hours at a time and looked forward to his sister Barbara’s calls as well. They would laugh and reminisce about the “good old days” and things they did as children growing up. He was also very fond of his mother in law Marj, and knew that he was “her favorite.” They had a lot in common, like watching westerns and the Dallas Cowboys so they always had something to talk about. They were neighbors and he formed a special bond with her. When evening came, he would give her a peck on the cheek and offer to walk her home. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila Slaughter; his children, Anthony, Charlie and Tommy Slaughter, and Kevin and Justin Perry along with his adopted son, Mitchell Payne; two brothers, Johnny and Joey Slaughter; two sisters, Elenor Hoffman and husband Steve and Barbara Waller; grandchildren, Emily, Zachary and Caleb Perry and special grandchildren, Haley and Khloe Whorton. He is also survived by his mother in law, Marj Frizzell; brother-in-law Johnny Frizzell, sisters-in-law Cynthia Johnson, Kim Henderson, Shannon Wooldridge, Lana Norris and Donna Hatchett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Slaughter and daughter, Elizabeth Slaughter.
